Skills & Education Guarantee Pilot -
European Investment Fund (EIF)

Image

Brain Capital has received a grant of EUR 18 million from the European Union (EU). This financing is made possible through the support of the European Union under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI). The purpose of EFSI is to help support financing and implementing productive investments in the European Union and to ensure increased access to financing.

How does it work?

The EIF provides a free-of-charge first-loss capped guarantee (or counter-guarantee) to selected financial intermediaries building up new portfolios of debt financing dedicated to eligible groups of final beneficiaries. This effectively means that the eligible final beneficiaries will be able to access debt financing in various forms (e.g., Income Share Agreements) through dedicated financial intermediaries such as Brain Capital. The EU will guarantee such debt financing. Thanks to the guarantee, students will be able to access finance easier and at better terms. The EIF implements the S&E Pilot on behalf of the European Commission, and thus, the initiative benefits from the EU’s budget support under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).

Who can benefit?

The S&E Guarantee Pilot aims to support, among others, students who wish to (further) study and improve their skills through academic education, vocational training, lifelong learning, and other forms of education. In particular, the S&E Pilot will also support the mobility of students and learners pursuing educational programs in a Member State other than their country of residency.

History of Brain Capital

Starting from the idea of a fair & flexible tuition fee financing to the leading partner for students, universities, and investors in the implementation of alternative financing concepts.

A different approach to financing tuition fees. Our story begins in 2005 as a start-up at WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar. Marco Vietor was doing his doctorate under Prof. Dr. Markus Rudolf on "Human Capital Contracts". The focus of his academic research concentrated on an innovative and customer-oriented student financing solution that meets the needs of students. WHU alumni were the first investors to be convinced with this idea, in the spirit of a reverse generation contract. This led Brain Capital to be known now as the largest provider of education funds.
